Metropolitan Opera Tickets on Auction

Sharon, ON – The Words Alive Literary Festival is auctioning a pair of tickets to the complete 2008 – 2009 season of The Metropolitan Opera Live in High Definition at Cineplex Entertainment Theatres.

You won’t want to miss the opening gala of the Met’s 125th anniversary season. The gala stars the extraordinary Renée Fleming in three of her most acclaimed roles. Music Director James Levine and Marco Armiliato conduct fully staged performances of the second act of Verdi’s La Traviata, the third act of Massenet’s Manon, and the final scene from Richard Strauss’s Capriccio. Tenor Ramón Vargas and baritones Thomas Hampson and Dwayne Croft join the soprano for this season-opener.

  • Saturday, November 8, 2008 – Dr. Atomic (Adams)
  • Saturday, November 22, 2008 – La Damnation de Faust (Berlioz)
  • Saturday, December 20, 2008 – Thaïs (Massenet)
  • Saturday, January 10, 2009 – La Rondine (Puccini)
  • Saturday, January 24, 2009 – Orfeo ed Euridice (Gluck)
  • Saturday, February 7, 2009 – Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti)
  • Saturday, March 7, 2009 – Madame Butterfly (Puccini)
  • Saturday, March 21, 2009 – La Sonnambula (Bellini)
  • Saturday, May 9, 2009 – La Cenerentola (Rossini)
