WCDR Annual Free Poetry Contest for Youth
Entries to the Writers’ Circle of Durham Region’s Annual Free Poetry contest for youth – ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS – ends January 31st!
Poems on the theme of SAVING THE ENVIRONMENT are coming in from places as far away as India, Vietnam and Texas, but we have only received one entry from the greater Toronto area at this point.
Full details are available on the WCDR website and there is a Facebook event page devoted to it as well.
Two of the three judges have been chosen:
- League of Canadian Poets member and Artistic Director of the longest running weekly poetry reading series in Canada, the Art Bar, Heather Cadsby.
- The second is Michael Fraser, a Toronto poet (his new book is receiving rave reviews), High School English teacher and Artistic Director of The Plasticine Poetry reading series.
A third prominent poet has been invited to be a judge, but has yet to confirm.
