About the Festival

The Words Alive Literary Festival celebrates a rich literary heritage providing a showcase for local and Canada-wide authors. One day of author readings, public readings, workshops, panel discussions and storytelling including poetry with music and art will allow you to travel with new voices to different lands and have the opportunity to become a part of their human experience.

The Venue

The Festival is held annually at the Sharon Temple National Historic Site and Museum. We use the beautiful historic buildings for readings and workshops, the enchanting grounds for storytelling, vendors, and picnicking. In the event of inclement weather, the outdoor activities would be relocated to Temperance Hall and/or the East Gwillimbury Town Hall complex next door; this enables us to hold the event – rain or shine – in warm, dry, and comfortable surroundings!
