Jacob Scheier

Poet & Journalist

Jacob Scheier is a Toronto born poet and journalist. His debut poetry collection, More to Keep us Warm (ECW Press), won the 2008 Governor General’s Award and was named amongst 2008’s “best in verse” by the Winnipeg Free Press. He is also the co-winner of a New York Community Media Alliance Award for best feature article in an independent publication. Jacob’s poems have been published in several periodicals across North America, including Geist, Descant, Prism International and Big City Lit (NYC). His poems have also been aired on CBC Radio and one was recently adapted to a dance performance at the Enwave Theatre in Toronto. Jacob is also a regular contributor of articles, essays and literary reviews to Toronto’s NOW Magazine and NYC’s The Indypendent, and is the former co-editor and chief of existere: York University’s journal of art and literature.
